HERSHEY, PA – The York College golf squad notched their third tournament championship of the year as they captured the team title at the Elizabethtown College Blue Jay Classic at Hershey Country Club East in Hershey, PA. The Spartans shot a team total of 312 to edge second place Dickinson College by two strokes. Susquehanna finished third with a score of 315 while Cabrini, Elizabethtown and Moravian tied for fourth place.
Senior Jimmy DeCastro (Mantoloking, N.J./Governor Livingston) led the Spartans as he fired a six-over-par 77, good enough to tie him for sixth in the 99-player field. Freshman Adam Dupler (York Haven, Pa./Red Land) and junior Cody Trabert (York, Pa./Central York) each finished a stroke back of DeCastro with matching 78’s. That left Dupler and Trabert tied for 13th in the tournament. Justin Heisler (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) rounded out the Spartan scorers in the tournament as he shot an eight-over 79, which left him tied for 18th. Shane Bernard (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) was the Spartans’ final tournament participant as he shot an 82.
The Spartans, who are now 107-29 overall, return to action on
April 13 when they travel to the Franklin & Marshall Spring
Invitational. The tournament is slated to begin at 12:00 pm.
