LITITZ, PA-The York College golf squad finished
fifth of 17 teams at the Bent Creek Invitational hosted by Franklin
& Marshall College at Bent Creek Country Club in Lititz, PA.
The Spartans carded a team total of 321 as they finished 24 strokes
back of team champion Franklin & Marshall. Rutgers-Camden and
Wesley finished tied for second at 316 while Moravian placed fourth
at 317.
Senior Jimmy DeCastro (Mantoloking, N.J./Governor
Livingston) paced the green and white as he shot a
five-over-par 76, which tied him for sixth in the tournament.
Freshman Andrew Schmehl (Vincentown, N.J./Seneca)
and junior Cody Trabert (York, Pa./Central York)
each shot 80 for the green and white. That nine-over-par effort
tied them for 20th.
Senior Shane Bernard (Churchville, Md./C. Milton
Wright) shot 85 as he was the Spartans’ final scorer
as he placed tied for 54th. Freshman Adam Dupler (York,
Pa./Red Land) was the final Spartan to participate as he
shot an 86.
The Spartans, who are now 55-15, conclude their fall campaign on
Tuesday afternoon as they travel to Gettysburg to participate in
the Gettysburg Fall Classic at the Links of Gettysburg. The
tournament is slated for a 1:00 pm start.
