Spartans Place Fourth at Messiah Fall Classic

HARRISBURG, PA-The York College men’s golf team placed fourth of eight teams at Wednesday’s Messiah College Fall Classic at Blue Ridge Country Club in Harrisburg, PA. The Spartans finished with a team total of 329. Muhlenberg won the event with a team score of 301. Messiah placed second with 312 while Dickinson was third at 321.

The Spartans were led by freshman Kevin Alvey (York, Pa./Homeschooled) as he carded a five-over 77, tying him for eighth. Senior Sean Leitzell (New Cumberland, Pa./Susquehannock) shot 80 which tied him for 13th. Junior Jimmy DeCastro (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) was the third Spartan finisher as he carded an 85 which left him alone in 25th place. Senior Nate Lankford (York, Pa./West York) was the fourth Spartan scorer as he placed tied for 26th with an 87.

The Spartans, who are now 36-9 for the fall campaign, return to action on October 8 when they travel to the Franklin & Marshall Invitational. The tournament begins at 1:00 pm.
