Spartans Conclude Fall with Seventh Place Finish
GETTYSBURG, PA-The York College men’s golf team finished seventh of 11 teams at the Gettysburg College Fall Invitational in Gettysburg, PA. The Spartans finished with a team score of 323 as they finished one stroke out of sixth and two out of a top five finish. McDaniel won the team title with a score of 305 while the host Bullets placed second with a 314. Messiah finished third at 315 while Franklin & Marshal shot 317 for a fourth place finish.
Senior Sean Leitzell (New Cumberland, Pa./Susquehannock) led the Spartans as he shot a five-over 77, tying him for eighth place. Junior Jimmy DeCastro (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) returned to the Spartan lineup and finished one stroke back of Leitzell as he fired a 78. That tied DeCastro for tenth in the 63 man field. Freshman Kevin Alvey (York, Pa./Homeschooled) shot an 11-over 83 as he tied for 33rd. Sophomore Cody Trabert (York, Pa./Central York) was the fourth Spartan finisher as he shot an 85, tying him for 41st in the tournament. Brian Long (York, Pa/West York), who was York’s top finisher at Monday’s F&M Invitational with a 73, shot 88 as York’s fifth tournament participant.
The Spartans finish the fall campaign with a mark of 50-18. The green and white return to action in March.
