LANCASTER, PA-The York College men’s golf team finished fourth of 14 teams at the Franklin & Marshall Bent Creek Invitational in Lancaster, PA. The Spartans finished with a team score of 311, two strokes back of third place Muhlenberg and eight strokes back of runner-up Neumann College. The host Diplomats cruised to the win as the shot a school record 286 which was just two over par as a team. The Diplomats won the event by a whopping 17 strokes.
The Spartans were led by Brian Long (York, Pa/West York) as carded a two-over par 73. That total tied Long for sixth in the tournament. Senior Sean Leitzell (New Cumberland, Pa./Susquehannock) shot 78 as he tied for 12th. Freshman Kevin Alvey (York, Pa./Homeschooled) tied for 22nd as he shot an eight-over 79. Sophomore Cody Trabert (York, Pa./Central York) was the fourth Spartan finisher as he shot an 81. Sophomore Evan Vonatski (Eastport, N.Y./Eastport-South Manor) was the final tournament participant for the Spartans as he shot an 87.
The Spartans, who are now 49-12, conclude the fall season on Tuesday afternoon as they travel to the Gettysburg College Tournament.
