Spartans Finish Third at Bent Creek Invitational

LANCASTER, PA-The York College men’s golf team finished third at the Bent Creek Spring Invitational hosted by Franklin & Marshall College on Monday afternoon in Lancaster, PA. The Spartans shot a team score of 306, 22 strokes behind team champion Wesley as the Wolverines shot a team score of 292 while the host Diplomats shot 298. Elizabethtown placed fourth with a team score of 314 while Neumann rounded out the top five with a score of 317.

The Spartans were led by the duo of Jimmy DeCastro (Berkley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) and Shane Bernard (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) as they each shot a five-over-par 76. That score tied the two Spartans for eighth place in the tournament.

Senior Sean Leitzell (New Cumberland, Pa./Susquehannock) and sophomore Cody Trabert (York, Pa./Central York) both shot six-over-par 77’s as they tied for 11th in the 83 man field. Brian Long (York, Pa./West York) shot an 82 to round out the Spartan lineup.

The Spartans, who are now 94-36-1 return to action on April 20 at the Glenmaura Invitational in Glenmaura, PA. The two day tournament kicks off on Sunday with the second round being held on Monday.
