HAMPSTEAD, MD-The York College golf squad sits
second after day one of the inaugural Capital Athletic Conference
golf championships at Piney Branch Golf Club in Hampstead, MD.
The Spartans carded a team total of 321 as they are four strokes
back of tournament favorite Wesley as the Wolverines combined to
post a score of 317. Host Villa Julie is third while Hood and
Marymount are tied for fourth with a score of 362.
Shane Bernard (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright)
leads the Spartans as he shot a seven-over-par 78, good for a
fourth place tie. Senior Sean Leitzell (New Cumberland,
Pa./Susquehannock) is two strokes back of Bernard in sixth
place as he fired an 80. Junior Jimmy DeCastro (Berkeley
Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) was ten over as he shot 81
which leaves him all alone in seventh. Sophomore Cody
Trabert (York, Pa./Central York) was the final scorer for
the Spartans as he shot 82 which ties him for eighth.
The tournament concludes on Sunday afternoon as the first-ever CAC
golf champion will be crowned.
