LEBANON, PA-The York College men’s golf team placed second of 16 full teams at the Lebanon Valley College Fall Golf Tournament at Lebanon Country Club on Monday afternoon. The Spartans fired a team score of 307, 13 strokes back of team champion Franklin & Marshall as the Diplomats blitzed the field with a team score of 294. Messiah finished a stroke back of York at 308 while Dickinson (310) placed fourth and Kings (311) finished fifth.
The Spartans were paced by senior Sean Leitzell (New Cumberland, Pa./Susquehannock) as he carded a two-over 74, good for a tie for seventh. Sophomore Cody Trabert (York, Pa./Central York) finished one stroke back of Leitzell as Trabert shot a 37 on the front and 38 on the back for a three-over 75.
Freshman Kevin Alvey (York, Pa./Homeschooled) was the Spartans’ third finisher as he placed tied for 17th as he shot 78. Freshman Brian Long (York, Pa./West York) shot an 80 which left him in a tie for 30th place in the 93 player field.
The green and white, who improve to 32-6 for the fall campaign, return to action on October 3 when they travel to the Messiah College Tournament. The tournament kicks off at 12:00 pm.
