YORK, PA - York College senior defender Jennifer Morrissette has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Morrissette returned to the Spartan lineup after missing the first game of the season due to injury. She made her season debut on Wednesday as she spearheaded a shutout defensive effort for the Spartans. The Spartans pitched the shutout despite Dickinson firing off 13 shots.
In the Saturday game against Shenandoah, Morrissette had a record day in multiple ways against the Hornets. She recorded a single-season game school record with four defensive saves in the tight 2-1 loss. Those four defensive saves also gave her the Spartan career record as she now has 21 defensive saves, passing former Spartan defensive standout Kari Moyer (1996-99) for the school record.
