Spartans Receive NFHCA Academic Recognition
YORK, PA. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association recognized the York College field hockey squad for their fantastic academic performance during the first semester of the 2011-12 academic year.
The Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III academic awards recognize collegiate field hockey student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2011-12 academic year as well as teams who register a cumulative 3.0 grade point average or higher during that same time. The Spartans were one of 113 programs to receive this honor.
York was also fortunate enough to have 12 Spartans receive individual 2011 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III academic honors. Katie Blankenstein, Ashton Burk, Sam Carberry, Danielle Gaitings, Leah Hunsinger, Alyssa Martin, Jessica Masciovecchio, Katie Petrillo, Lydia Pirie, Courtney Rice, Nancy Saylor, and Madi Wilt had an outstanding 2011 school year achieving a cumulative 3.3 grade point average or better during the 2011 fall semester.
The Spartans completed their 2011 season with an 11-9 record and a 4-3 mark in the Capital Athletic Conference.
