YORK, Pa. – The York College field hockey team received great news today as they garnered three All-Capital Athletic Conference honors. The performances of senior midfielder Brittany Simmons and senior defender Colleen O'Rourke allowed them to capture first team accolades, while junior forward Sandee Reich registered a second team nod.
In Simmons's senior campaign, she started all 20 Spartan games. Of York's 1,400 minutes this year, Simmons played in an impressive 1,201, as she was a consistent presence on the field for the Green and White. She followed up her second-team All-CAC season from a year ago with three goals and three assists, for a total of nine points this season.
O'Rourke also was a second team All-CAC selection a year ago, and like Simmons followed up with another exceptional season. She started in all 20 contests for the Spartans, tallying five goals and nine assists for a total of 19 points this season. She enjoyed success in the eight conference games posting four goals and two assists for ten total points in those contests.
Sandee Reich collected her first All-CAC bid in her junior campaign. She recorded a team-leading 15 goals, while her eight assists were good for second on the squad. Her offensive prowess led to her to a team-high 38 total points. Against CAC competition Reich posted six goals and three assists where the Spartans went 3-1 in games in which she scored.
Through these performances, Simmons, O'Rourke, and Reich led the Green and White to an 11-9 overall record and a 5-3 conference mark as the Spartans reached the semifinals of the CAC Tournament.
