YORK, Pa. – The York College field hockey team lost their second home game of the season 6-3 to the University of Mary Washington. The Eagles improve their overall record to 7-2 and 1-1 in the Capital Athletic Conference, while the now 5-3 Spartans fall to 0-2 in the CAC.
Mary Washington scored early and often in the first half. The Eagles quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead with goals from Florence George, Morgan Jones, and Lisa Charney. Jones would finish the game with four goals, which all came in the first half of play.
York eventually got on the board with a goal from the team's leading goal scorer Sandee Reich. Reich's goal put her season total in double figures for the second time in her career.
Other Spartan scorers included senior captain Colleen O'Rourke who registered her first goal of the season. She was assisted on the play by sophomore forward Kailey Brewer who also assisted on Reich's goal earlier in the contest. Rounding out the scoring for the Green and White was sophomore forward Madi Wilt who now has three goals in the last two games.
Despite the loss, York maintained the advantage in the shot column 24-13 and held the edge in penalty corners 13-2.
The Spartans return to action at Kinsley Field on Tuesday as they face non-conference neighbor Elizabethtown. Game time is set for 4:30 pm.
