Field Hockey Honored by NFHCA for Academic Success
YORK, PA – The York College field hockey team has been honored by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association for their academic success during the 2010 season.
The Spartans, under the leadership of head coach Jamie Swartz, accumulated a terrific team GPA over 3.0 during the year.
York was one of four Capital Athletic Conference field hockey programs to garner the honor. St. Mary's, Salisbury, and Stevenson joined the Spartans on the NFHCA academic list who also for attaining a team GPA of over 3.0 for the season.
The field hockey team is no stranger to academic success as they have acquired recognition for their performance in the classroom during each of the previous four seasons. In 2006, the Spartans were the top academic team possessing an overall 3.65 GPA. The following year, the Green and White achieved a GPA over 3.0 and in 2008 were recognized among the NCAA Division III programs with the third highest GPA at 3.46. Last year, the Spartans also garnered recognition from the NFHCA for their 3.09 GPA.
