YORK, Pa. - This week's Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week honor is awarded to senior field hockey star, Katie Dawkins. She secures the weekly athletic honor for her outstanding performance over York's three contests as she helped the Green and White to three victories against Dickinson, Wilson, and Frostburg.
On October 7, Dawkins helped the Spartan offense put on a powerful display against Wilson College. The Spartans posted a 5-1 come-from-behind victory with Dawkins scoring a goal and assisting in one as well. She assisted on Jillian Brezgel's game-winning score before adding York's first insurance tally in the second half.
That same hustle was shown against Frostburg on Saturday October 9 as the Green and White tallied a 3-1 Capital Athletic Conference win. Dawkins contributed one goal, her fifth on the season, which proved to be the game-winner. The senior forward led all players with eight shots with six of those attempts being on-goal.
Thus far this season, Dawkins has posted five tallies, putting her in a three-way tie for third on the Spartan squad, while she has also provided four assists.
Dawkins hopes to continue her strong performance as the Spartans take to the road on Wednesday, October 13. The Green and White travel to nearby Elizabethtown for the 4:30 pm mid-week non-conference tilt.
