LANCASTER, PA-The York College field hockey squad dropped a non-conference match at Franklin & Marshall Tuesday as the Diplomats handed the green and white a 5-0 setback in Lancaster, Pa. The Spartans fall to 6-13 overall while the Diplomats improve to 11-5.
The Diplomats were keyed by Jessika Mancino as the junior forward tallied a natural hat trick. Mancino connected with Eileen O’Reilly for the Diplomats’ first three goals of the game en route to the win over the Spartans. Mancino scored her first goal 1:04 into the game. The second came in the 12th minute of the contest. The third goal was scored in the 50th minute as the green and white had no answer for Mancino.
The Diplomats added goals from Brittany Carson and Stolle Singleton to close out the scoring. Carson’s goal came in the 51st minute and Singleton, who assisted on Carson’s goal, capped the scoring with her goal in the 63rd minute.
The Diplomats outshot York 22-8 while they held a 10-4 bulge in penalty corners.
Jennifer Burdo notched the shutout for the Dips as she made four saves. Spartan sophomore Claire Rekitzke (Seaford, Del./Seaford Senior) notched 13 saves in the loss.
York closes out their regular season on Thursday as they travel to Frostburg State for a non-conference contest. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
