How It Happened
• The Spartans opened the scoring in the third inning as Garrett Southern doubled down the left field line scoring Jack Barry with the game's opening run. Barry had singled to open the third inning. Southern moved to third on a ground ball to second and came home on a Zach Hossler ground out, giving York the 2-0 lead.
• York added to the lead in the eight as Grant Oberholtzer doubled to left, moved to third on an error and scored on a Hossler sacrifice fly to center.
• York plated a fourth run in the ninth as Devin Chapman singled to left. He moved to second on a wild pitch and scored when Barry ripped a double to left center.
• That would be more than enough offense for starter Andrew Ross. Ross tossed 6.1 shutout innings, scattering five hits, walking two and striking out nine to earn his first win of the year. Zac Stoll picked up the save as he threw two scoreless innings as he allowed one hit and struck out one.
