How It Happened

• The Spartans got on top early as Christian Bilan scored Collin Crowell with a sacrifice fly as York took the early 1-0 lead. The Spartans left runners at the corners as they couldn't put up a crooked number in the first.

• Both teams scored single runs in the fourth inning. York's run came on a Logan Countryman RBI single. CNU's run came on a Joseph Cutchins sacrifice fly.

• The two squads had big fifth innings as they both scored four runs. Michael Moore had a bases loaded double to plate three and he would score on a Countryman double to right center. The Captains got their four runs on one swing of the stick as Nicholas Baham jammed a grand slam to left to account for the four CNU runs.

• The Captains kept their offense rolling in the bottom of the sixth as they push across four more runs to take a 9-6 lead.

• The Captains put the game away with two runs in the seventh and one more in the eighth as they doubled up the Spartans 12-6.

The Spartans are now 9-19 all time against the Captains … York has lost three straight against CNU and seven of their nine games as CAC opponents … the Spartans lost by shutout for the first time this year in the opener … York falls to 1-7 when being out hit by their opponent.

The Spartans close out their grueling six games in five days stretch with a Capital Athletic Conference doubleheader on Sunday afternoon as York hosts Marymount University at Jaquet Field. Game one is slated for a 1:00 pm start.
