Spartans Suffer Tough Sweep at Marymount

ARLINGTON, VA – The York College baseball squad suffered a hard-to-swallow sweep at the hands of the Marymount University Saints on Saturday afternoon in Arlington, Virginia. The Saints won game one 15-5 and then earned a come-from-behind 7-6 win in the nightcap. Marymount improves to 17-12 overall and 9-3 in the CAC while the Spartans fall to 7-19-1 overall and 5-7 in the league. York has lost five straight with the two losses.

Game One How It Happened

• The Spartans got on the board in the top of the first aided by a pair of Marymount errors. Zach Hossler reached on an error to start the game. Collin Crowell singled through the left side to put Spartans at first and second. Sean Mohollen sacrificed the two runners up 90 feet each. Steve Miller then plated a pair of runs with a two-run single to give York the 2-0 lead.

• York made it 4-0 in the fourth as Clayton Hoff and Hossler drilled back-to-back two out home runs to right field, giving York the four run cushion. The home run is Hossler's third of the year while the round tripper for Hoff is his first collegiate tater.

• That lead would be short lived as the Saints exploded for 12 runs in the bottom of the fourth. They banged out 11 hits and a Spartan error. The Saints hit a pair of three run home runs in the frame.

• Marymount added a single run in the fifth and two more in the eighth to push the lead to 15-4.

• York scored the game's final run in the ninth on a Mohollen RBI triple to right center.
