YORK, PA – The York College baseball squad placed four players on the 2013 Capital Athletic Conference all league teams as announced by the conference office on Thursday.
Senior third baseman Justin Cohen (Severn, Md./Old Mill) and senior second baseman Dustin Worthman (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) earned first team accolades. Senior outfielder Drew Frankenfield (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) and junior outfielder Andrew Hershey (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) both earned second team honors.
Worthman earns his second All-CAC award as he was a second team selection as a sophomore in 2010. The senior is currently hitting .345 with 24 runs scored, 23 RBI and three doubles in 148 at-bats for the year. Worthman owns a .395 on-base percentage and a .365 slugging percentage.
Worthman became the 10th Spartan to reach 200 career hits earlier in the year. He is a career .357 hitter in 162 games. He has amassed 117 runs scored, 59 RBI, 20 doubles, two doubles and 25 stolen bases. Worthman is currently ranked 10th in the CAC in batting average.
Cohen has had a big senior season as the third baseman is hitting .342 with 27 RBI, 25 runs scored, 21 doubles, and a home run. He has a .491 slugging percentage and a .374 on-base percentage.
For his career, Cohen is a .315 hitter with 86 RBI, 78 runs scored, 55 doubles, a triple, and ten home runs.
Cohen ranks first in the CAC in doubles, 12th in batting average, ninth in RBI, and 18th in runs scored. The all conference honor is the first for Cohen.
Frankenfield is closing out his Spartan career as one of the hottest players in the squad over the second half of the season. Frankenfield is currently hitting .317 with a team-high 29 RBI, 26 runs scored, 13 doubles, a triple and a home run. He has posted a .420 on-base percentage and a .446 slugging percentage.
Frankenfield is a career .327 hitting in his two years in the Green and White. He has accumulated 93 hits, 57 runs scored, 51 RBI, 23 doubles, two triples and a pair of home runs. Frankenfield has played in and started 82 games in his Spartan career.
Frankenfield is ranked eighth in the CAC in RBI, tied for sixth in doubles, 14th in runs scored, and 20th in batting average.
Hershey earns his first All-CAC award after a strong junior season in which he hit .314 with 28 runs scored, 27 RBI, 13 doubles, one triple, two home runs and a team-leading 12 stolen bases. He recorded a .367 on-base percentage and a .447 slugging percentage.
The junior centerfielder ranks fifth in the CAC in stolen bases, tied for ninth in RBI, tenth in runs scored, and tied for sixth in doubles.
Hershey is a career .314 hitter with 42 runs scored, 40 RBI, 17 doubles, three triples, and two home runs in 78 games. He has stolen 14 bases in 16 career attempts.
The Spartans conclude their 2013 season on Sunday afternoon when they host Franklin & Marshall College in a non-conference contest. First pitch is slated for 3:00 pm at Jaquet Field.
