York College freshman pitcher Dan Gurganus earned the Capital Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the third time as the weekly awards were announced by the conference office on Monday.
Gurganus earned the award after twirling a two-hit shutout in the Spartans' 9-0 win over Immaculata on Sunday afternoon. The freshman right-hander scattered two singles while he struck out a career-high nine as he threw his third complete game of the year and second shutout.
Gurganus allowed a two-out single in the second and a single in the third as he struck out at least one batter in five of the seven innings he tossed.
For the season, Gurganus has a mark of 5-2 with a 3.33 ERA in 54.0 innings. He has held opponents to just a .221 average while he has struck out 39 for the year. His three complete games leads the team as does his two shutouts.
