Tretter and Gurganus Sweep CAC Weekly Awards

YORK, PA -  Spartan senior centerfielder Steve Tretter (Ephrata, Pa./Ephrata) and freshman pitcher Dan Gurganus (Prince Frederick, Md./Huntingtown) were selected as the CAC Baseball Athletes of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday evening.
Tretter was named the Baseball Player of the Week after batting 12-for-21(.571) with a walk, four doubles, a homer, seven runs scored, five stolen bases and four RBI as the Spartans won four of five games this week, including a weekend sweep at Mary Washington.  He had at least one hit in every game while recoring a stolen base and run scored in four of the five contests.
Garganus was named the Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season after throwing a five-hit shutout in Game 2 of the three-game set at UMW this weekend that lifted the Spartans into second place in the CAC standings.  Garganus walked three and fanned two in the seven-inning, complete-game performance.
