YORK, PA – York College junior center fielder Steve Tretter earned second-team All-CAC accolades as announced by the conference office on Wednesday. Tretter earns the conference honor for the first time in his two-year Spartan career.
Tretter has been the Spartans' best hitter in 2011 as he leads the squad with a .315 batting average. He has scored 19 runs with 16 RBI, 11 doubles, two triples and a team-leading four home runs. He has a .528 slugging percentage while his on base percentage of .378 is the second-highest percentage on the team.
For his Spartan career, Tretter is a .358 hitter with 32 runs scored, 19 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 27 RBI in 176 at-bats covering 65 games. He has a .568 slugging percentage and a .411 on-base percentage.
Tretter's highlights from 2011 include a career-high tying four hits against Stevenson on March 27, a game-tying home run in an eventual win over Mary Washington on April 3, and a career-high eight total bases in the April 26 win over Montclair State. He recorded a career-high six putouts in the March 2 contest at Johns Hopkins.
Tretter and the Spartans close out the 2011 season this weekend with a trip to Ferrum College for a pair of contests. The Spartans and Panthers play Saturday night at 7:00 pm followed by a 1:00 pm Sunday game to close out the year.
