Klinck and Ullom Named ABCCL All-Stars
YORK, PA – A pair of York College baseball players have enjoyed a very successful summer in preparation for the Spartans' 2011 campaign. Rising senior Rob Klinck (Stanhope, NJ/Lenape Valley Regional) and rising junior Brandon Ullom (South Plainfield, NJ/South Plainfield) each played for the Jackson Thunder of the Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League based in New Jersey. The association is a prestigious wood bat league that features some of the top collegiate talent on the east coast. Klinck and Ullom were selected to play in the league's annual All-Star game at the home of the Trenton Thunder.
Ullom finished the season for the Thunder with a mark of 2-0 with seven saves as the team's closer. Ullom made 19 appearances and threw 25.0 innings during the year. He sported a 3.60 ERA as he had a sterling 26-to-9 strikeout to walk ratio during the year. He saved seven of the Thunder's 15 wins and his seven saves led the league during the year. Twelve of Ullom's 19 appearances were scoreless while he had at least one strikeout in all but three of his appearances.
Ullom had a breakout sophomore year for the Spartans this past spring, as he was 1-1 with three saves and a 1.71 ERA in 26.1 innings. He struck out 25 and walked just two, as opponents hit just .235 against him.
Klink had another good spring for the Green and White, as he was a second-team All-Capital Athletic Conference selection. He hit .316 with 35 RBI, 29 runs scored, 10 doubles, seven triples and five home runs. He played in all 44 games for York as the Spartans' starting shortstop.
