FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The York College baseball team extended it's win streak to 10 games with a big 18-6 regional victory at Methodist University on Sunday afternoon in Fayetteville, N.C. The Spartans, who are battling the Monarchs for a spot in the upcoming NCAA Tournament, improve to 28-12 overall while the Monarchs finish their regular season with a mark of 28-14.
The Spartans, who are riding their second double digit win streak of the year, got on the board early with a four run first inning in what would foreshadow a big offensive performance by the Green and White. The Monarchs cut the Spartan lead in half with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. York pushed the lead to 6-2 with two more runs in the top of the fourth, however, Methodist cut the lead to 6-5 with three runs in the bottom of the frame.

Senior Chris Frankenfield (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) earned the win as he improves to 6-1. Frankenfield allowed five runs, three earned, on nine hits with two strikeouts and one walk. The three pitchers that followed Frankenfield, sophomore KC Beshore (New Cumberland, Pa./Red Land), sophomore Brandon Ullom (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield), and freshman Brian Lusby (Prince Frederick, Md./Huntingtown) were very good as they combined to throw four innings, allowing a run on eight hits with one walk and one strikeout, preserving the victory for York.
