Cook Named CAC Baseball Player of the Week

YORK, PAKyle Cook (Pylesville, Md./North Harford), a sophomore relief pitcher/infielder for the York College baseball team has been selected as the most recent recipient of the Capital Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week award. This is the second week in a row that a Spartan has been selected as the league's top performer as centerfielder Ryan Poff (York, Pa./Spring Grove) garnered the accolade last week.
Cook helped guide the Spartans to a pair of wins last week including a 7-4 triumph over #1 Salisbury.  The sophomore posted a .500 batting average over those two contests and recorded both saves.
Cook has gotten off to a fantastic start in his second season in the green and white. Posting 13 hits on the year, Cook has scored 13 runs and knocked in eleven. He has also been stellar in the field, committing only a pair of errors from the middle infield. Cook’s most valuable contribution to the Spartan squad however, may be on the mound. He sports a sound 1.64 ERA to go along with three saves in eleven innings pitched. Cook has only allowed four hits and two earned runs while fanning 19 hitters as opponents are hitting a mere .105 against the right-hander.
