WASHINGTON, DC-The York College baseball team
posted their eighth straight win as they downed Gallaudet
University 26-1 in Capital Athletic Conference action on Saturday
in Washington, DC. The Spartans improve to 15-4 overall and 3-1 in
the CAC. The Bison fall to 1-13 overall and 0-6 in the
conference.
The Spartans opened the scoring with a six run
second inning. York then blew the game open with an 11-run third

The highlight of the frame was a three run homer from catcher Mike

average almost 120 points thanks to a blistering week at the
dish.
Gallaudet got their lone run in the bottom of
the third but York answered with two runs in the fourth, one in the
sixth, two in the seventh, two in the eighth, and two in the ninth
to provide for York’s final margin of victory.
The Bison contributed to the Spartans’
onslaught with eight errors, a season-high for the Spartans’
opponents.
The Spartan offense featured 14 different
players collecting at least one hit led by Ryan Poff’s (York,
PA/Spring Grove) five hits in seven at-bats. Poff added four runs
scored and three RBI. Second baseman Ryan Craig (Rocky Point,

seventh inning triple.
Junior Brett Berry (Brightwaters, NY/Bayshore)
earned the win as he went three innings in the Spartans’
pre-determined order for the game. Berry allowed one run on two
hits with three strikeouts and two walks. He is now 1-0 for the
year.
Chester Kuschmider suffered the loss for
Gallaudet as he tossed 2.2 innings, allowing 17 runs, 16 earned, on
14 hits with one strikeout and one walk. Brendan Gallagher relieved
Kuschmider and allowed nine runs, eight earned, on 15 hits in 5.1
innings of action.
The eight game win streak ties the 2002 team for
the longest win streak in the last ten years. That streak ran from
April 23 to May 7. The 2001 Spartan squad also had an eight game
win streak.
York puts their win streak on the line on Sunday
as they host Mary Washington in a key Capital Athletic Conference
contest. The Eagles are the last team to defeat the Spartans as
they posted a 5-3 win in Fredericksburg on March 14.
