ATLANTA, GA-The York College baseball team
suffered another tough loss as #19 Emory University edged the
Spartans 7-6 in 10 innings in the final game of the 2007 Rawlings

the nation, improve to 5-0 while the Spartans fall to 1-3. All
three of the Spartans’ setbacks have come by one run and two
of the three losses came in 10 innings.
The Spartans struck first as freshman
Mike Connolly (Selden, NY/Newfield) singled to
left, scoring Anthony Anzalone (Rocky Point, NY/Rocky
Point) with the game’s first run in the top of the

York answered the Eagles’ three-spot with
a four-run outburst. Senior Bryan Bednarczyk (Columbia,

an RBI single. Anzalone continues his impressive start as he
stroked a two-run single to left and then fellow freshman

fourth run with an RBI single of his own.
Emory tied the game in the bottom of the eighth
thanks to a pair of RBI doubles from Bo Schill and Andrew
Carroll.
The Eagles won the game in the bottom of the
tenth as Schill doubled and was pinch run for by Jake Ornstein.
Ornstein then advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on
reliever Randy Bond’s (Brandywine, MD/Riverdale
Baptist) wild pitch. The wild pitch was the Spartans fifth
