Villari Named the Spartan Athlete of the Week for March 26

YORK, PA – York College is proud to announce that
men’s senior tennis player James Villari (Clark,
N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) has been named the Spartan Athlete
of the Week for the week ending on March 25. Villari led the
Spartans to a trio of wins for the week to earn the award.
Villari started his week with a 6-1, 7-5 win over
PSU-Harrisburg’s Tyler Loy in the fifth singles match to help
lead the Spartans to victory. He also combined with fellow senior
Philip Myers (York, Pa./William Penn) to post an
8-1 second doubles win for the Green and White.
In the tight 5-4 mid-week win over Gettysburg, Villari posted a
6-2, 6-2 fifth singles win over the Bullets’ Johnny Nelson.
He also teamed with Myers to earn a close 8-6 win at second doubles
as the Spartans moved to .500 for the season.
Villari moved up to third singles in the Spartans’ final
match of the week as he rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win over
Albright’s Cain Walter.
For the week, Villari was 3-0 in singles play and 2-0 in double
action. For the season, Villari is 4-1 at fifth singles and 1-0 in
third singles action while he has three wins when teaming with
Myers in doubles action.
