YORK, Pa. – Following her outstanding performance at the Dickinson Holiday Invitational, York College women’s track & field standout Laura Rowlands has been selected as the most recent Spartan Athlete of the Week.
Rowlands placed first in a pair of jumping events as she took first in both the long jump and triple jump. The sophomore, who was selected as the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Track & Field Rookie of the Year last spring, posted a victorious 5.09-meter (16’ 8.5”) leap in the long jump as that distance established a new school-record in the event. She also captured the triple jump with a 10.68-meter (35’ 0.5”) distance.
Rowlands led the Green and White to a fifth-place finish out of 11 squads at the Dickinson Holiday Invitational as the Spartans are an exceptionally talented young squad.
York returns to action on January 21 at the University of Maryland's Terrapin Invitational at the PG Sportsplex. Meet time is slated for a 10:00 am start.
