Bua Named Spartan Athlete-of-the-Week for Second Time
YORK, Pa. - York College is pleased to announce that junior
men’s soccer player Antonio Bua has been named the Spartan
Athlete of the Week for his outstanding performance in two games
for the Green and White during the week of October 17-23.
This is the second time the standout forward from Lancaster, Pa.
has received the honor this season, with the first coming after he
led York to three victories in early September.
Bua, a business administration major and alumni of Lampeter-Strasburg High School, led the squad to two victories throughout this past week.
In Wednesday’s match at Gettysburg, Bua scored the lone goal in the contest off a cross from senior Mike Gill in the 20th minute. The junior’s fourth goal of the season proved to be the eventual game-winner, his first of the year.
Bua tallied an early goal in Saturday’s contest with Frostburg State to give the Green and White a 1-0 advantage at the 5:34 mark in the first half. Although Frostburg answered shortly after, goals by sophomores Aaron Beale and Jimmy Garrison allowed the Spartans to hold on for the victory.
For the season, Bua has remained a dominant force for the Spartans throughout the season as he has notched five goals and five assists to guide York to an overall record of 7-5-4, 3-1-3 CAC. The Green and White will return to action Monday, October 24, when they take on the Hood College Blazers in a Capital Athletic Conference showdown in Frederick, Md. at 3:30 pm.
