YORK, PA – York College is proud to announce that senior field hockey forward Sandee Reich (Pitman, NJ/Glassboro) has been named the Spartan Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 9, 2012.
Reich paced the Spartans to a 1-1 week as she was a key contributor in each game.
In Wednesday’s contest against Gettysburg, Reich tallied the Spartans’ lone goal as she scored off an assist from freshman Holly Martin (Hanover, Pa./South Western) less than ten minutes into the game.
In the Saturday win on the road at Washington & Lee, Reich provided the Spartan offense. She started the scoring with an unassisted goal just over 18 minutes into the game. Reich then assisted Madi Wilt (Harwood, Md./Kent Island) on the eventual game-winning goal just 1:30 into the second half.
For the week, Reich tallied two goals and one assist for five points. For the season, she leads the Spartans with eight points on three goals and two assists.
In her stellar Spartan career, Reich now has 86 points on 35 goals and 16 assists. She now ranks fifth in points, four behind former Spartan standout Rachel Alderfer (2003-06) who has 90 points. Reich is also all alone in fifth place for career goals as she trails Alderfer by two goals.
Reich is a Recreation and Leisure Administration major and is the daughter of John and Phyllis Reich.
