YORK, PA - Sophomore men's lacrosse attack Tyler Hutson
(Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) has been named the Spartan Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 14.
Hutson earns the award for the third time this spring season.
Hutson tallied seven goals and two assists for nine points in the Spartans picked up two key CAC wins. In the win over Frostburg on Wednesday, Hutson recorded three goals and an assist as the Spartans picked up an 11-4 win. In the key Saturday showdown at Mary Washington, Hutson tallied a match-high five points on four goals and an assist. His third goal of the day gave him 100 career goals in just his 31st collegiate game. Hutson is just the fourth York College men's lacrosse player to reach 100 career points.
Hutson currently sits fourth on the Spartans' all-time scoring list with 135 points. He is just four points out of third place and 16 points out of second. His 101 goals also ranks him fourth as he is just three goals away from tying for third and nien goals away from second place. His 34 career assists places him just out of the top five all-time.
Hutson also broke the single-season scoring record with his Saturday outburst with 68 points for the season. He established the previous record of 67 set during his CAC Rookie-of-the-Year campaign of 2012. He needs four goals to break the single-season scoring record of 53 set by Scott Hermes in 2002.
Hutson and the Spartans close out the regular season on Saturday when they travel to St. Mary's College to face the Seahawks in a key CAC contest. Face off is set for 3:00 pm.
