YORK, PA - York College is proud to announce that junior attackman Brendan McGrath has been named the Spartan Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 11.
McGrath led the #5 York College men’s lacrosse squad to a season-opening 10-4 win over #20 Washington & Lee on Saturday in Lexington, Virginia.
McGrath had a huge day in the opener as he poured in six goals and added an assist for a career-high tying seven points in the victory.
McGrath opened the scoring for the season and the game as he struck for his first goal a mere 2:48 into the game, as he notched an unassisted tally. He made it 2-0 just over three minutes later, scoring off a pass from Thomas Pfeiffer. McGrath made it 5-0 with his third goal of the game with 1:49 left in the first quarter.
McGrath had a big second quarter as he contributed to all three Spartan goals as he scored at the 13:55 mark and again 6:15 while he also assisted on Hunter Davis’ goal with 9:45 left in the half.
McGrath capped his day with a sixth goal with 5:04 left in the game to conclude his outstanding day.
Last season, McGrath led the Spartans with 82 points on 58 goals and 24 assists. He had four game-winning goals and seven man up goals during the campaign.
