YORK, PA - York College is proud to annouce that junior guard Matt Scamuffo has been named the Spartan Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 22, 2017.
Scamuffo had a huge week for the Spartans as they went 1-1 in a pair of CAC road games. Scamuffo began the week by tying his career high with 32 points in the Spartans 88-84 win at St. Mary's. Scamuffo was 9-for-17 from the floor, 7-for-15 from three, and 7-for-8 from the free throw line. He also had one rebound, one assist, and a steal in the victory.
In Saturday's game at Mary Washington, Scamuffo tossed in 31 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor and 4-for-8 from three. For the second straight game, Scamuffo was 7-for-8 at the free throw line. He added one rebound and three assists.
For the week, Scamuffo averaged 31.5 points on 59.4% (19-for-32) shooting from the floor including 11-for-23 (47.8%) from the floor and 87.5% (14-for-16) from the free throw line.
For the season, Scamuffo is averaging 16.2 points per game as he is shooting 44.2% from the floor, 33.9% from three and 73.6% from the free throw line. Scamuffo now has 861 career points and 137 made three pointers. He is currently eighth on the career three pointers made list, nine made threes out of sixth place.
